BENEFITS OF BEING A HOST FAMILY

Similar to an exchange student program, teams are always in need of families that are willing to open their heart and home to a developing athlete. Families are interested in taking a supporting role in the player’s overall development while both get memories that will last a lifetime. Each billet family is paid a monthly housing fee by that player or their family. Housing fee covers monthly housing and three meals a day.  Players are very independent and will be asked to work part time 15 hours a week, take classes or do both. So there is not a lot of down time for these young athletes.

Become a Blue Ox Host Family!

The first step to becoming a host family is to contact us! Our billet coordinator, Owner, and Director of Hockey Operations, Jay Witta, will guide you through the process. He will provide you with our Blue Ox Billet Questionnaireto help match you with the right player for your family. All billet family members are required to complete a Safe Sport USA Hockey background screening for eligibility.

This is also the perfect time to review ground rules and expectations to ensure a great experience for both the team and the host family.

Our program places athletes with caring and supportive host families, offering them a safe home environment while allowing families to experience the excitement of elite athlete development firsthand.
