Goals, on Goals, on Goals

The Minnesota Blue Ox entertained 12-3 win against the Steele County Blades on Saturday night. Starting out the big scoring night on a power play was Chris Ciolek, on a pass from Mueller and Worre, to tally his first goal of the season. Not even 3 minutes later Bailey Emery would put the Blue Ox up 2-0. And on the next face off, Oskari Halme wristed a goal with help from Swenson and Scherz. The Blades answered with their lone goal of the first period to make the score 3-1. A tripping penalty on the Blades would allow Orlando Scherz to convert the second power play goal of the night. Halme and Nikiforov would tally the assist on Scherz’s goal.

With the score 4-1 in the Blue Ox’s favor, the Blades would score the lone goal of the second period on a pass from Gruhn to Najera.

After a scoreless second period, the Blue Ox came out of the gates early with a goal from Oskari Halme, with Kause on the assist. A minute and a half later Philip Schader would make the score 6-2 on a solid pass from Mueller. Oskari Halme rounded out a hat trick, three minutes later, after eyeing a pass from Scherz. With their final goal of the night, the Blades would slip a fast one past Blue Ox goalie Josh Greune at 9:38 of the third period. Keeping the scoring trend of the third period going, Gibbs and Carlson lined up with Finnish forward Kristian Kause to put the Blue Ox up 8-3. Coon Rapids native, Colton Ryan, then tallied his second goal of the season on a pass from Weiland. A minute later Tyler DuPuy snuck a shot past the Blades goalie to bring the Blue Ox score to double digits. Goals number 11 and 12 of the game came from Nick Mueller and Orlando Scherz, respectively.

Scoring 8 goals in just the third period, the Blue Ox got their second win of the weekend with a score of 12-3 over the Steele County Blades. The Blue Ox converted on 2 of 5 power plays and outshot the Blades 53-26. Blue Ox goalie Josh Greune would tally the win and finish out the night with a .885 save percentage. With this win, the Minnesota Blue Ox are now 11-1-1 in the 2017-2018 season.
